The busy season is beginning. Some of the events are those we have done in the past and this year we have a few new ones added to the list. We will be starting the season with the Avalon resort in Paw Paw west virginia, is a wonderful experience being one with nature and the world around us. I have created some really cool new products and I am looking forward to good weather and a great time meeting up with the the nicest of people.
From there we will be heading to the frontier festival which will be held in Pennsylvania.

Once upon a time

Not all stories written have a happily ever after endings and some even have a moral. Many stories were written on a thread of truth and passed down through the generations.

Once upon a time there lived a maiden, who spent her days frolicking in the garden and caring for the animals of the hollow. The hills were many and the tree's thick that she could never ever see beyond the horizon. Many spoke of her existence, but they never ever went down into the hollow to see the maiden. The maiden thought this meant she was ugly and wasn't very smart and she refused to challenge the boundaries made by the hollow. Some of the restraints could not be seen to man nor animal but chained the mind so severely that the maiden became drowned in sorrow and loneliness. She took refuge to her bedroom and rarely stepped again into the hills of the hollow. She lay there trapped by the barriers of her mind and she no longer could hear the birds sing and the sun shine, she began to whither from the tears that flooded from the soul.

When all seemed impossible and darkness filled the hollow, a crack of light came through the trees. She woke from the dark spell that had been cast upon her and she saw a man, he was young and smart and attractive. He came to her for help and she felt a warmth grow insider of her by this extraordinary young mans need for help. Months went by and many things had happened and the maiden began to feel pretty and to smile again, she took to gardening and tending to the animals of the hollow. The young stranger who breathed life into the maiden found his needs filled and had to return to the far away land in which he lived. The maiden again felt sorrow and she spoke softly to him" " don't leave I will be lonely again" the young man wise beyond his years said "no you will not be lonely, you are beautiful and you are smart and you will seek the company of others." The maiden distraught cried " I don't want others I want you"

Days and weeks passed the young stranger returned to his homeland and the maiden met another stranger, the faceless man appeared to the maiden. He had a sense of humor and he made the maiden of the hollow laugh and laugh. Everything she did he knew the next step, he was not only smart but he was exciting. She felt such energy from the faceless man, she felt the beat of his heart and she began to dance in the clouds. Each day people outside the hollow would gaze into the sky to see the beautiful maiden dancing on the clouds. Months and years went by, the maiden became stronger and stepped beyond the hollow. The faceless one rarely came around anymore but she so wanted so to see him and to laugh and smile and dance upon the clouds. The faceless one spoke in riddles and the maiden of the hollow was confused by the message.

The maiden of the hollow did not understand the visits of the various strangers. Why did they come so quickly into her life and so quickly disappear? The maiden felt lost and though she went about her day she wondered what happened to the strangers and she wanted them to come back.

One day something magical happen another stranger came by, he was different than the others, he had the look of a king and he had a heart so wide that she could feel his embrace from the very first moment the came in contact. He showered his love down upon her like magic from the heavens. When she wanted to quit he nudged her gently, when she wanted to run he held her hand so she would slow down. He pulled her down from the clouds and taught her how to walk carefully through the doors of reality. Still troubled the maiden began like a puzzle to put the pieces of her life together. She opened the invisible door of the hollow and she went out into the world. She walked through life knowing she would never be alone again, She now understood that the strangers were leading her down a path all along and that from the very beginning she was never ever alone.

The king had many responsibilities and she weeped as he return to his kingdom to fulfill his destiny. But the maiden kept something from each she kept their love tucked away safely in her heart and whenever the tears would flow the sky would take on the bluest of blue and the sun would shine. People say to this day that if you look into the sky on a hot summer day right after a rain fall, you can still see the maiden and the many hearts she holds close

as she dances on clouds. .

The weather is just not cooperating. I am quite aware that into each life a little rain must fall, but this week, I think we have had a little more then our share. Though the events do go on and Mammoth park is on the list for this Sunday June 6 th . Like any good event, the people make it worth while, I have lost track of how many people I have met and how wonderful they make the moment. Sometimes it is just a brief conversation other times it is the sharing of stories.

I have been working on new poetry and skin care products. It seems the more you do the more you want to do. I at times feel pulled in various directions. I know that it is a plus to be out and about but also a challenge as I battle to pull it all together. Mammoth Park starts early Sunday morning and continues on till about 7 pm.So those of you in and around the Westmoreland area come on out and enjoy the day.

A weak thread breaks under pressure,

therefore we should tighten the weave with stronger threads.

Attaining knowledge means very little unless you share it.

I have not done so well at getting a calender of events listed.We finished up a great weekend with the GFWC and the Route 40 event was extraordinary. The Farmers market is underway and I can be found every wednesday on Greene Street in Waynesburg between 2 and 5 in front of the American legions. It is always exciting to meet up with new and old friends and work on great new products. Thanks to Homer and his wife I have a great supply of fresh basil which I have incorporated into a great massage cream for aches and pains. Ram Festival

I am so behind in posting schedules and preparing for the events. But have beening taken everything a step at a time and finally rid myself of the IRS drama. Where will I be, we have a few local events coming up in April, the Chamber of Commerce has invited me to do a private party. I also will be doing the calendar party of the local civics group which I am a member, it's my duty to the world around to help those who cannot help themself. We also have the Ramps festival, a little bit of country, not so dramatic as the larger events, but definetly a must do if you have never had Deep Fried Ramps. Delicioius way to start spring, my ramps are already sprouted out back and I am thrilled to prepare myself for the next week event. It starts to pick on up from here on out. Some of the same events we have done in the past, always adding some new ones. I will make a point to add them this month.
Sometimes I feel like I am spinning around in circles without any clear cut place to stop. Stepping back and taking a deep breath. Chutes and Ladders, the childrens game quickly teaches us that we really don't want to slide back, everyone wants to move forward and gather momentum and I am know different. But if I were to stop, I have a few images that have not left my mind of where I would like to be.

Think Pink

We attended our first think pink event and we were amazed at how well it was organized and how wonderful the comrade was. The women were extrarordinary in hosting and raising funds for the Hillman foundation. If you get a chance to attend next years event, check out their website at http://www.thinkpink.org/. December 5th we are in Avonworth . It is a holiday event in its twentieth year of celebration. Hours are from ten to three .

December 12 th will be the last event for 2009. It has in Greene County at the fairgrounds and sponsored by Greensboro. In its second year the reviews are showing that it will be excellent event with many great vendors and opportunity to finish holiday shopping.

I have to work on events and trade shows. Winter comes with its own difficulties and keeping busy helps it to go fast. Also is always so much fun to see so many of you return. Though their is lot of request for poetry, I have not officially sat down and worked on it. Sometimes I am a little bit spread thin, that I am either really busy or I feel like I have crashed.

The Weekend in Review

The many faces all blended miraculously into one, some felt like old friends and some a new gift from above. The lessons were many, struggles and desire, loneliness and happiness controlled their hour. Music playing and the crowds beyond belief and in the dark of the night, the moon shed life on their grief. Some needed a moment to share from deed inside, the heartache they experienced the sadness within their mind. Angels appearing in the most unusual disguise, I saw them in a child and in the blue of the sky. Some journeys just beginning, a few coming to and end and as I gaze into the crowds a chill transcends.

Boalsburg Memorial Day Festival

The weather was iffy at the national pike fesitval in bealsville and still we had a really great turn out. It was good to talk with everyone and share in some awesome stories. . A special thank you to lauren for the unexpected gift and warm friendship.

I am head to boalsburg on the 25th of may for the memorial day festival. It is traditionally a huge event with much to see and do and don't forget to shop around at the awesome vendors. I have been working on new poetry but we have some of well know and great loved pieces on dispay as well. The Boalsburg event is in a quaint little historical down up in state college area of Pennsylvania.
Working are bringing you more of the quality products you have come to expect from Autumn's. Map quest way back in time and join the crowds of people haveing a great time.

Keep away that rain! the National Pike festival had people coming through in groves to old route 40 event. This is my public display of thank you to Audrey and Russ for setting up and running the event. They did a great job in their displays as well as selling. Every little bit helps and made for a great weekend as it allowed me to attend my son's graduation from Penn State.
We are getting ready for another day on the pike, stop down at the bealsville location in Pennsylvania. I'll add some pictures of the event tomorrow as a glimpse of hometown fun.

The busy season is quickly approaching. I'll be attending several events that have become regulars from the local ramp fest in April, the memorial day event in state college. I am looking forward to going to GFWC it is a great organziation that does volunter work on both a local and international level. With this group you will find a wonderful group of women working towards the same goal to better our communities, educate and reach out to those most in need. I'll be a vendor at the pennsylvania conference on May 2nd and for more information check with your local chapter or go to www.GFWC.org.

I enjoy working this event, as I find the women exude confidence and are a treasure to accompany. If you ever wondered how you might help in your community, I seriously urge anyone interested to research and consider joining a group of women who know that commitment does bring results.

History and Mission

The General Federation of Women's Clubs is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

OUR STORY

1868: GFWC's roots can be traced back to 1868 when Jane Cunningham Croly (1829-1901), a professional New York journalist who wrote under the pen name of Jennie June, attempted to attend a dinner at an all-male press club honoring British novelist Charles Dickens. Croly was denied admittance based upon her gender, and, in response, she formed a club for women. She chose the name Sorosis, a Greek word meaning "an aggregation; a sweet flavor of many fruits."

1890: Jane Croly, founder of Sorosis, extended an invitation to women's clubs throughout the United States to attend a ratification convention in New York City. Sixty-three clubs attended on April 23-25 and took action to form the General Federation of Women's Clubs.

1898: GFWC unanimously passed a resolution against child labor. With the help of clubwoman Jane Addams (1860-1935), child labor became a major area of concern for the Federation. Ready and not to move forward for the day, worked on some really cool products. From our homegrown rose toner, to our conditioning and exfoliating scrubs. The past week has gone quickly and I had lost focus for the moment, trying to bring it all together. The season is filled with many of our usual stops and we have added quite a few new ones. I won't be able to attend each one, but autumn's will be represented and still bringing you fine quality products.

I have to say that over the years I have done what I thought was right. Master at sweeping the negativity under the carpet. It was just easier to smooth a rocky path then to stumble and fall and then have to worry about how to get up. Unfortunately I remained distant from myself, losing bit my bit a dimension of my inner being. It wasn't the cliche or old adage" of finding oneself" it became more about accepting oneself, defending oneself, believing in one self and loving oneself. Many times I believed the hollow contained trees that were the barriers to the outside world, when I later realized that the barriers are only set in place by our own weakness, our self made limitations. Today's preview of spring wakened something inside, like a removal of winters curtain. I felt the renewal encourage life, bringing faith and hope to the forefront.
It took years to erode away at independence and it is taking years to mend and instill confidence to achieve at the highest levels of success. No particular measurement can be placed on the road to success, but when all becomes clear and the path is not filled with indecisiveness then I will find the enlightment of strength that creates the ultimate in freedom.

Fear builds walls, faith takes them down.

When I think of all the gifts I have been given, my personal satisfaction is in the gift to write. To see love brings such beauty, to touch love reaches deep in my heart, to share love exudes from my soul the warmth of a thousand suns. Alone the words are wonderful, together with your love they are magnifcent.

Here we are in the middle of winter dreaming of spring. Everything is completely covered in the hollow with a white blanket of snow and flurries are in the air. Temperatures are brrrr cold. Positive thinking as racing to the month of May. On May 26 th it is confirmed that i'll be at the Historic Boalsburg pennsylvania memorial day celebration. Event is from 9 to 5 and we are hoping for a sun shining day but will be there rain or shine... prefers shine. lolIf you have not ever been to pennsylvania you will find the state college area to be one of the most beautiful. Breath taking hills and the beauty of spring in full session. There are many things to enjoy in the area , rich in culture, mountains resorts, musuems filled with rich historical charm of pa area. There are times that you wish you knew what tomorrow will bring and then not. It could possibly be partly the season and the dark days of winter. I look ahead to the possibilities and all that we are capable of performing in the months ahead.

I cannot move ahead without giving my gratitude for all those who have made it possible for me to continue on with the endeavors of reaching out and meeting and enjoying the many new faces. Though one person has remained loyal, filled with compassion and encouragement and though I would love to shout his praise, I think it is better that he just know I am thankful and appreciate and hope that I can fill his expectations of me. At times I am flustered to what direction this journey is taking and why. It started on many levels, capability, love, survival and has reached even further then expected. At first it was about my own existence and leaving behind a message, some would say a legacy. I had thought that there were many avenues I could have taken, but I chose love or was it love that chose me?

On my so called journey I met with many people, each revealed personal stories, triumps, losses, illness, heartbreak. It became evident to me, the titles of the stories different and a wide range of characters but the movement was in the emotions stirred. There were only so many emotions and they bring us together as human beings. I wanted to touch mostly on those that encouraged good thoughts and love, but I found more then enough times poeple wanted words that helped to over come a time of grief.

Sometimes the hills of Greene celebrate so in silence and other times it echo's loudly, I can't explain the unsettlingness of it all. I do know that life and the simplest moments are magnificent when shared. For without the love of another it all would be empty and cold. An embrace that holds close both day and night energizes the spirit to encourage the soul to strive for more as it reaches beyond barriers set by both time and space.

I have done it again and I have over booked, we will at 2 locations on the 2oth of October. Though the books and skin care line will be available at the Pittsburgh Shriner's off of Route 28, I will not be there to personally meet everyone. But as it's been in the past it looks to be a great event with a huge turn out and many vendors with great products. We have not slighted our product line and are offering many choices from greeting cards to matted poetry and organic herbal skincare products that enhance the body and soul.

I will be at the Greene County museum in Pennsylvania October 2oth and 21st. Like a chameleon changing colors to camouflage in with its surroundings, I could feel the negative energy alter the peace of my inner space. I knew as I walked into the shopping mall with its many stores closed that the event would be less then prosperous. The anchor store for the shopping mall was a Walmart. The Walmart built a new shopping plaza and with it went many of the chain stores, leaving behind those that were teetering to survive and others who found themselves still caught up in a long term lease.
A view of capitalism at its best, as we stopped in at the new shopping plaza, there was a buzz from the long lines and the acceptance from the college scene. No matter how one looks at it, the success of a super store lay in the hands of American middle class. No adventure is successful without the willing buyers, for they can build up or take down a business.
There are many behind the scene reasons a new location is built over remodeling an existing location. It is at times less expensive to build new then to remodel, and with the creating of new highways, another location might now become more attractive.
The news over the week was filled with destruction many that were at the hands of nature. Volcano's, floods, mine explosions and to many to mention. Desperation called for the prayers of the loss souls. Yet daily the number of unimaginable deaths to do man on man incidences go with out notice. Heavy are the woes of the world, for on the grand stage of life they go with out much fanfare or recognition.
I realized how negative energy can be so controlling, as each vendor packed early to cut their financial loss, they carried out with them luggage filled with stress, negativity and anger. One gentlemen asked for me to hold on and stay awhile.Smiling I agreed, it became time where a few of us shared in past experiences, made friends and expressed personal opinions on everything from politics to personal issues.
I remember my very first event, first question that everyone asked what if you don't make enough money? I said then as I said today it's not about the money made today, but a broader knowledge that comes with the experiences of life. I absorbed much of my surroundings today. The veteran professionals who have tweaked their business, to the first time vendors who were hoping for a successful event. There is always another lesson in life if your heart and mind remain open. As the events before this day, faces will meld together to form a collage that will mark the event in my mind. Unfortunately this event was a mix of the optimist and the pessimist view of life. I felt the on stage emotions that fought for center attention.
Releasing the weeks negativity, I am blowing in the wind. I found myself
fighting my own invisible battles, over walls built of the unknown. Tightening the guide ropes of the ship, I hope to lead myself in
a positive direction. The beauty is in waking up each morning, feeling the wind against my face, remembering the joy of laughter and the magic of smiles created from a distance.

Settling down, in my mind I reviewed the last few festival days. Friday and Saturday were so hot that you begged for shade and Sunday ended the festival with a non stop rain.
My thoughts on the community was one that was stagnant, it was like a stroll through the past. No mass employment in the area, the community faces what so many before them have faced. Poverty,drugs and those struggling to get out and still more satisfied in the only world they know.
I saw people on a level that I had not witnessed in a long time, it reminded of the plight that low income neighborhoods fight on a daily basis.
Many of the people eager for conversation shared their thoughts and celebrated in the joining of neighbors. There were a few who hungered for the arts and appreciated the display of poetry and pictures. I had done what I promised the Lord I would reach out to people in all walks of life.
I saw many of the same problems I myself faced, many young mothers without drivers licenses and education struggling to raise their children.
It isn't possible to survive on a minimum wage job and even worse to raise a family on it. I see so many caught up in the system, with very few doors for them to open.
It was not a weekend of all gloom, I sensed in them a happy people who
warmly welcomed me into their community. Just as any festival there are a few people that sear a permanent picture in your mind. The few that stuck with me were for completely different reasons. The one couple was so happy and warm together that it was refreshing to converse with them, to the complete opposite, a couple where I felt an extreme control of one partner over the other. Then one young women, she was twenty one years old and over coming her disability or at least living despite it.
She read outloud the words in my book, I like that she said, I like it allot, for her she saw the words of inspiration. As she read the notation I made in the book for her she smiled, talked of her boyfriend and her own personal struggles.
I knew that I had been in hiding for many a years, some of it do to circumstances and others maybe to my own time of healing. The place wI chose to call home for twelve years was and isolation from the community at large. The rural area can do that to you, the trees dance in the wind as you wake to the symphony of birds and animals that greet you with the joy of life. It was as if the world and the people in it were locked away beyond the trees of the mountains.
The weekend gave me a greater appreciation for life.

My mind is scattered, mixed thoughts, I have the feeling of standing at the bottom of the mountain and just again starting the climb. On the way I see many accomplishments and the struggles that weigh a person down.... I am not normally as excited before an event as I am today.
I am not sure why I am as restless. I have been trying to separate personal issues from the day at hand, to not be overwhelmed .
Looking at the last few weeks of accomplishments I see the bringing together of new products and the reintroduction of my skincare line in a new label, the attempt at updating the web store, and also the introduction of poetry in various mediums. What started as fragments of my being and my desire for many things such as love and financial independence , have been muddied by the darkness of another's thoughts and actions.
It is so hot this morning and yet I feel a chill. Many things cross my mind, previous conversations and some how a reanalysis of what is. Trying to battle down my own inner fears and rise above.

You have to grab a good time wherever you can, an unknown little fact, I use to read comic books when I was a kid, I could devour them. Well the benefits of being a younger sister was, there was plenty to read. Okay, so it wasn't cultural or educational, but it sure was fun on those lazy hot days of summer when your not daydreaming watching clouds go by.....My favorite was the metaphoris man.. .. simply because I thought he was a gentlemen hero, not to mention cute.... sorry Batman you did come in second with a great ZIP , POW , WHAM, CRASH and well who could not love wonder woman... and the ideal amazon world of women, yeah we know, we rule. lol Just to think in my day comic books were the ultimate enemy to a parent, and now they have taken second place to video games... nothing like fantasy to make your mind work..

Ribfest

The ribfest had great weather and I met up with some old friends as well as making new. We had a huge turn out from the local resturants and Damions took first place this year, but all the ribs were great including those from TGIF, Apple Bees, Texas road house.. etc I appreciate those who continue to purchase poetry and skincare products,but above it was a good time, wonderful music and good spirits.

We are preparing for the next event and hope to see a good turn out.....

Donora festival

The next scheduled event is for a community festival in Donora Pa. The event is scheduled for August 3, 4, and 5th from 12 noon till 11 pm. Stop out for that old home down atmosphere, some good food, music , arts and crafts and Don't forget to stop by and say hello I always look forward to meeting and talking with everyone.

Each arts festival brings with it a new faces, new challenges and a bit of excitement. I woke up at 4:30 and for the first time I sit here prepared and extra early. I hadn't done many last minute things and I have already gone through the different phases of preparation... I never realized how important it is to like what you see in the mirror. It's not about the physical as much as it is about liking your inner self. You hear allot of jokes about inner beauty,but there is allot more to it then people realize.
Each event brings with it new stories, some I see the intermingling of issues that we all meet up with at one time or another in our lives. So common are the stories, that only the cast changes.
I found the pedestal of brass horses unattached and laying on my desk. Disappointed it wasn't something I wanted to rid my desk of , so I had them repaired. The soldering that holds them together makes then stand strong , more so then the were originally. I looked at them and it made me think of personalities and how respect and trust builds a stronger bond to hold us up through times of difficulty.
The picture I posted of clouds is interpreted in many ways.The person who sent it to me saw a " heart " and I saw in it a "demon" My response was that the interpretation was extremely different because they "lived with love and I lived with fear. "
Fear to me is nothing more then the pre-examination of a set of consequences. Sometimes the predetermination prevents us or slows the process of growth. When your a small child your taught not to go near a city street as a car might not see you and be able to stop in time. From toddler years on we are taught what we shouldn't do to provide a safer
environment. A certain measure of fear gives us food for thought a period of time to reason. Though if we stand still to long we miss opportunity. There is a very small window of time for which we are responsible to make a choice. If fear be the guide, would we ever get to the other side of the street or would our overly cautious attitude keep us at the edge always guessing when would be the right opportunity? Little lessons from childhood that show up later in life.Here we stand in the middle of our life with choices , how we react, the timing all are crucial
in our development.

Out of the mouth of babes...I had a few years back encouraged my daughter to read various writers work including poets. As we informally discussed what she was reading and her interpretation, she said " their work is just words on paper and yours flows with emotion" She was nine years old at the time. I said do not ever say you like something because I wrote it. "She said I am only saying what is the truth."
Interpretation, I realized how widely interpreted the words could be, depending on a persons culture, societal positioning and of course experience or lack of it. Traveling through out the North East, I found that really very little divided us as emotional beings, other then our own personal response to the trials of life.
The experiences that feed on emotion are not about the consumption of life, but more like the processing of it. Each day we wake with the ability to reinvent the moment.We in turn become proactive in our positioning in life rather then a parasite that just leeches on, always taking without giving in return.
Denial an unconscious survival mechanism? It is possible that we deny our emotions, because we are taught that it weakens us. I was told by a friend years back, " it is perfectly alright to accept our inner emotions, but not to allow them control over us."
A sensitivity to joy and sadness, love and hate, gives a certain view of life that is overlooked by many. Life is simplicity and only complicated by man.
